This new streaming service is bringing your favorite content creators to the big screen. Creator Plus is a fresh platform curated to highlight social media breakouts as the next big thing. Created by investor Jonathan Shambroom and former Youtube global head Benjamin Grubbs, this streaming service will give fans more content from their social media creators. The platform's first-ever film, Diamond in the Rough, features TikTok star Griffin Johnson and Disney alumna Samantha Boscarino.
Grubbs told Variety, "We believe the next generation of great storytellers are digital natives who don’t just want to tell stories in short-form bursts, but rather inspire and impact their audience with compelling feature-length films,"
It should be noted that Creator Plus is very different from other streaming services. It is not subscription-based, and users are only able to rent the original films of their choosing for a set price. Streamers can access their purchased film from their mobile device or on the Creator Plus site.
The service still has room to grow, and they intend to do that in the coming months. Jane, starring Riverdale's Madeline Petsch and Grammy-nominated songstress Chlöe Bailey, is set to be released in August. The film follows Petsch's character dealing with grief and rising to social media fame. The Riverdale star is also a producer of the film.
