Chanel Ambassador Gaspard Ulliel Dies in Serious Ski Accident
In addition to starring in the Yves Saint Laurent biopic, Gaspard Ulliel has worked in more than 50 other films and series.
On Tuesday, January 18, Chanel brand ambassador Gaspard Ulliel died following a skiing accident in the Savoie region of France. The actor hit his head but, despite being swiftly rescued and taken by helicopter to a hospital in Grenoble, he did not survive his injuries.
In addition to playing iconic fashion designer Yves Saint Laurent in the biopic Saint Laurent, the 37-year-old French actor is known for his performances in Hannibal Rising, The Dancer, and more than 50 other films and series in his career. He received two César Awards, also known as the "Oscars" of French cinema, both for Best Actor—first, in 2005, for the film A Very Long Engagement and again, in 2017, for It's Only the End of the World.
At the age of 12, he had his debut in the television movie Une femme en blanc. As he grew into his career, he was named the face of Chanel's Bleu de Chanel cologne and, later, the Maison Longchamp.
On the same day of his death, the trailer for Ulliel's next project, the new Marvel series Moon Knight, was released. He plays the character Anton Mogart / Midnight Man alongside Oscar Isaac and Ethan Hawke. The series is expected to premiere later this year.
