After 70 years on the throne, Queen Elizabeth II died at Balmoral Castle last year, surrounded by her loved ones.

The rock at the center of the British monarchy, Queen Elizabeth II was the longest-living monarch to reign over the United Kingdom. She unexpectedly became queen in 1952 at the young age of 25 following the death of her dear father, King George VI. Since then, she has worked with 14 prime ministers in her over six decades on the throne, all while carrying out service, engagements, overseas visits, and raising a family. She's also shared her royal duties with her husband of 73 years Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, who passed away in 2021 at 99 years old, and her four children, Charles, Prince of Wales; Princess Anne; Prince Andrew, Duke of York; and Prince Edward, Earl of Sussex; as well as her grandchildren, including Prince William and Prince Harry

A year since her passing, L’OFFICIEL honors her legacy by remembering some of her best moments from a young princess to the ruling monarch of the United Kingdom.
