Leslie Odom Jr. comes back as Aaron Burr ten years after his initial run, in which he originated the role.&nbsp;

At this year's <a href="https://www.lofficielusa.com/pop-culture/tony-awards-nominations-2025" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Tony's</a> earlier in the summer,&nbsp;Hamilton celebrated its ten-year anniversary with a performance featuring the entire original ensemble reprising their original roles, including Lin-Manuel Miranda, Phillipa Soo, Christopher Jackson, and Leslie Odom Jr. The celebration didn't end there; what with the announcement that Leslie Odom Jr. had stepped back into his original role, not just for the Tonys, but on the main stage for a limited run, where it all began.&nbsp;
While Odom is best known for his role in Hamilton, he's managed to fit his eggs in various other baskets. Born in Queens, New York, Leslie Odom Jr. is an award-winning actor, singer, songwriter, producer, and author. He got his start on Broadway at seventeen years old playing Paul in the 1998 musical Rent.&nbsp;He continued to act in stage shows, then transitioned to TV, in which he played roles in Grey's Anatomy, <a href="https://www.lofficielusa.com/pop-culture/embrace-nostalgia-with-these-young-photos-of-alexis-bledel" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Gilmore Girls</a>, The Good Wife,&nbsp;and&nbsp;Smash.&nbsp;
By 2012, he made his way back to the theatre and worked with Lin-Manuel Miranda in the Encores!&nbsp;off-center production of&nbsp;tick, tick... BOOM!&nbsp;and in 2013 was offered the role of Aaron Burr in Hamilton. He stuck with the role through workshops and previews until the show's official opening in 2015, and stayed until 2016. His performance earned him the <a href="https://www.lofficielusa.com/fashion/best-dressed-celebrities-tony-awards-2025-red-carpet" title="The 18 Best Dressed Celebrities Balanced Classics and Costume at the 2025 Tony Awards">Tony</a> for Best Actor and the <a href="https://www.lofficielusa.com/fashion/celebrities-red-carpet-grammys-2025" title="See All the Looks from the 2025 Grammys Red Carpet">Grammy Award</a> for Best Musical Theatre Album in 2016. After his initial run on Hamilton, it was an uphill climb to be sure.
In 2020, Odom acted in a four-part television series called Love in Times of Corona, which aired on Freeform on August 22, 2020. He also&nbsp;voiced the character of Owen Tillerman in the Apple TV animated comedy&nbsp;Central Park, earning him a nomination for Outstanding Character Voice-Over Performance at the Primetime Emmys of the same year. In 2020, Odom was cast as soul singer Sam Cooke in the <a href="https://www.lofficielusa.com/fashion/met-gala-2022-hosts-blake-lively-ryan-reynolds-regina-king-lin-manuel-miranda" title="Blake Lively, Ryan Reynolds, Regina King, and Lin-Manuel Miranda to Host 2022 Met Gala">Regina King</a>-directed film adaptation of <a href="https://www.lofficielusa.com/film-tv/2021-oscar-winners-list-academy-awards" target="_blank" rel="noopener">One Night In Miami</a>,&nbsp;which was released in theaters and on Amazon Prime on January 15, 2021. Odom received rave reviews for his portrayal of the jazz singer and earned Academy Award, SAG Award, and Golden Globe nominations, including for Best Supporting Actor and Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture. Not only that, but he also co-wrote "Speak Now", which plays at the end of One Night in Miami, with Sam Ashworth, for which he received the Academy Award and Golden Globe nominations for Best Song.&nbsp;
From 2021 to 2023, he pursued a variety of roles in film and TV, including but not limited to Abbot Elementary, Harriet, <a href="https://www.lofficielusa.com/film-tv/glass-onion-knives-out-2-mystery-netflix-details-cast-trailer" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery</a>,&nbsp;and&nbsp;Needle in a Timestack.&nbsp;In September of 2023, Odom returned to Broadway to act in the revival of&nbsp;Purlie Victorious, which earned him a Tony Award nomination for Best Actor in a Play and as a producer for Best Revival of a Play. In May 2024, a recording of the play was broadcast on PBS.&nbsp;
Early this year, it was announced that Leslie Odom Jr. would reprise his role as Aaron Burr on the stage of the Richard Rogers Theater from Sept. 9, 2025, to Nov. 23, 2025.&nbsp;
