Meghan Markle Will Not Join Prince Harry on UK Trip to See Royal Family
Over one year ago, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle told they world they were stepping down from their royal duties and moving across the pond. While the news caused quite a stir within the royal family, the Duke of Sussex is expected to return to his home country this summer to see his family. However, sources close to the royals have told the Daily Mail that they believe Meghan is unlikely to accompany her husband.
In March 2020, the Sussexes moved to Canada, and later Los Angeles, where they officially settled into their new life. Due to the coronavirus pandemic and its subsequent travel restrictions, the prince has not seen his family since then. According to royal insiders, the Duchess of Sussex's decision to remain at home is not, in fact, being considered a "snub" towards the royal family, but rather a matter of "personal and practical" reasons. Due to the onslaught of press the couple receives, having both of them in attendance could overshadow the significance of certain royal events.
The prince is believed to return home this summer to attend a number of major palace events, including his grandfather Prince Phillip's 100th birthday, his grandmother Queen Elizabeth II's 95th birthday, and the reveal of his mother Princess Diana's memorial statue at Kensington Palace. Though, the travel plans are not set in stone as the country continues to evaluate the coronavirus pandemic and travel protocols.
