Princess Diana Manipulated Into Giving Controversial Interview
The world was shocked after Princess Diana spoke in a vulnerable interview with BBC in 1995. However, there is reason to believe that the late princess was manipulated into giving the controversial interview that rocked the royal family and altered the trajectory of her future.
If you're a fan of British royalty, chances are you've heard about Princess Diana's controversial BBC interview in 1995, watched by over 23 million viewers. It was at this moment that Spencer spoke about the cheating that occurred throughout her marriage to King Charles II, postpartum depression, as well as her struggles with bulimia, shocking the public as she revealed the unpolished side of her life as a royal. However, what few know is that Diana was manipulated into giving this interview, and now truth of the situation is coming out.
An inquiry opened by the BBC sought answers regarding the methods used by interviewer Martin Bashir to get the princess's presence on the program. In addition, according to the company's website, the journalist acted in a misleading way and falsified documents to secure the interview.
However, a new chapter in this story begins as, according to The Telegraph, an official inquiry concluded that Bashir told Diana that Charles was in love with his children's nanny, Tiggy Legge-Bourke. In addition, the journalist even forged a fake abortion receipt about the alleged affair between the two.
According to the publication, the BBC is offering the former nanny - who is now known as Tiggy Pettifer, compensation in excess of $130,000 and expects a quick settlement.
"Tiggy Legge-Bourke was right at the center of Bashir's manipulation and the damage done to her is certain to be recognized by the BBC," a source revealed to the publication.
The extramarital relationships within the marriage between Diana and Charles was merely a component of the wide array of hostilities that preceded the princess' passing, but now that revelations of wrongdoing such as this are beginning to surface, who is to say what we might learn about the late princess next?
