Estefania Vanegas Pessoa, known as Tefi on TikTok and Youtube, is a social media star who went viral for her passionate, hilarious way of sharing pop culture related news.
When asked how she became interested in pop culture she explained that she felt pretty lonely during high school and to combat that she watched shows that aren’t really on TV anymore, shows that would give you an inside look on celebrity lives. She learnt a lot from these shows and would then talk about celebrities to her family using them as conversation starters or even to make new friends. Following the popularity of TikTok in 2020, Tefi shared how she felt in her videos in the same way she would share with her family, making her extremely relatable and lovable. She then went viral with videos on Sandra Bullock and Shania Twain and the stories about how they were cheated on, causing Tefi to recognize people’s interest in the details of celebrity life. Since then, she has gained a family of 1.4M followers and that number is only increasing. In an interview with Refinery 29, Tefi says "People trust me to tell them things, break it down, but not be shitty about it. We're going to talk about these people like they have kids. Everyone has been cheated on and so it's triggering. I wanted to talk about the other side of it, like forgiveness and time healing and empathy. What's the line between having empathy and being a doormat?"
It is obvious that the Miami-native doesn’t sugar coat anything, no matter if its celebrity gossip or dating advice, it feels like she is that one friend who will always tell you the cold, hard truth. Other than being the informant on all things pop culture, Tefi also shares relationship advice to her followers and sometimes that requires some tough love.
