How to Make Golden Milk, the Health Elixir of 2021
While many are spending the first few weeks of the new year making mocktails for Dry January, golden milk is a nutrient-rich (and alcohol-free) drink that will take your journey for a healthier 2021 to the next level. Made from non-dairy milk and turmeric, this beverage has the gift of brightening up everyday life. It bears its name from its pretty golden hue. Recognized for its antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties, it also plays a protective role for the stomach and liver to improve digestion.
In India, turmeric has been known and appreciated for millennia for cooking, religious ceremonies, and many ailment remedies. Called “the spice of life," turmeric is the king of spices and is often consumed in both meals and herbal teas. Naturopaths recommend regular consumption of turmeric thanks to its many health benefits. By incorporating this ingredient into your daily diet, you may see reduced joint pain, clearer skin, and better overall gut health. To learn how to make this drink at home, L'OFFICIEL speaks to wellness personnel at the Belgian athletic center L'Usine Bruxelles to get the recipe for the perfect glass of golden milk.
