Louis Vuitton Launches Louis 200 to Celebrate the Designer's 200th Birthday
To celebrate the brand's namesake designer, Louis Vuitton presents Louis 200, a series of activations including a new video game, Louis The Game.
A great visionary, adventurer, entrepreneur, designer, and innovator, Louis Vuitton was born 200 years ago on August 4, 1821. In honor of his two centuries, the French Maison celebrates its founder with Louis 200, a series of international media initiatives and collaborations.
A series of activations will be presented through the end of 2021 that celebrate the brand's savoir-faire. Launching on the founder's 200th birthday, Louis The Game, a video game with integrated NFTs and featuring the brand's mascot Vivienne, will be available for download on the App Store and Google Play. Players help Vivienne navigate through six imaginary worlds loosely inspired by the designer Louis Vuitton's own journey on foot to Paris after leaving his family home at 14 years old.
Following the game, a project involving Louis Vuitton boutique windows will exhibit the brand's iconic trunk as a vessel reinvented through 200 collaborations with artists and visionaries. Then, there will be a large LV triptych painted by the contemporary artist Alex Katz, a novel by the French writer Caroline Bongrand which tells the life of the founder, and, finally, Looking for Louis, a documentary about the designer Vuitton and his story.
“Louis’ coming-of-age tale, that of a risk-taking, innovative, natural leader defines the Maison he founded and advances us into the future. Through the disruptive and dynamic initiatives of Louis 200, we can appreciate how Louis was a figure of his time—and of ours.”
Michael Burke, President and CEO of Louis Vuitton
